Passed away on 21 April 2020, aged 84 years.

Mum was an exceptionally kind person who would always consider other peoples' needs before her own.  She adored children and babies and also had a deep rooted love for her country of birth, Burma.
If you would like to make a donation in mum's memory, we have looked into two options for good causes that we feel mum would have approved of.  
The first is a UK registered charity so donations can be made here online.  
The second options are also good causes but are not registered in the UK.  Donations would therefore be made in person by mum's children.  This is a more traditional way of giving in Burma:


1. The Vera Thomson English School, Rakhine State, Burma.  This school seeks to improve lives of local children in the village of Lintha by providing education, healthcare and social welfare.  It is run by Sue and Sahin Ozturk who also run the nearby Yoma Cherry Lodge hotel.  The school is funded by the Andrew Clark Trust which is a registered charity in England(Reg.no. 1104134).  For more information, please go to https://www.myanmaraid.org.uk


2. Blessed Sacrament Congregation, Kayah State, Burma.  Three nuns currently take care of 43 children, some orphaned, some from poor or broken families.  The children are in need of school uniforms, stationery etc for the school year.  Any cash donations for this purpose would be greatly appreciated and be given in person.
Or
Local charities supporting people with disabilities, Rangoon, Burma.  Various local organisations provide help to physically and mentally handicapped children in Rangoon.  Some provide rehabilitation, accommodation, food whilst others focus more on raising awareness, advocating for the rights of people with disabilities, including free primary education, vocational training and suitable employment opportunities.  As above, any cash donations would be greatly welcomed.
