We are looking for a full-time funeral operative to join our team, based from our head office in Reading. If you are an empathetic, compassionate individual with great communication skills, this role could be for you.

About the job

You will be part of a committed and busy team that provides respectful and professional services to families in their time of need. The role is very varied and every day is different. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Taking the person who has died into our care, showing sensitivity and professionalism
  • Acting as a pallbearer and chauffeur during funeral services
  • Undertaking behind-the-scenes tasks such as
  • Preparing the person who has died for the family to say their last goodbyes
  • Coffin finishing
  • Preparing and cleaning company vehicles

About you

  • A positive and open attitude is essential for this role
  • Willing to take personal ownership of tasks and be comfortable thinking on your feet
  • Respectful and professional approach
  • Must hold a full, clean, manual driving license
  • Be able to reliably commute, or plan to relocate, to Reading area before starting

Salary and benefits

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 5pm. You will be part of an on-call rota to provide our services outside of standard working hours (additional pay rates apply). This is an in-person role.

Salary: From £26,600 plus benefits

We welcome applications from individuals with or without previous experience as funeral operators. Salary for experienced candidates will be based on relevant experience and qualifications.
