The Link Bereavement Course

The Link Bereavement course is available for anyone locally that needs bereavement support. Experiencing loss along with others going through similar experiences can help normalise your feelings.

What is The Link bereavement course?

Our Link Bereavement Course is free for anyone who has experienced loss. The course consists of six weekly group sessions to help you explore feelings and share experiences.

Sessions are held at our Reading office on a weekday evening and are led by trained facilitators that combine learning with group interaction. The group usually consists of 6-12 people.

Parking is available, and refreshments are provided.

Course invitation

For those who arranged a funeral through AB Walker, around three months after the funeral, we will write to you to tell you about the programme. The invitation to attend our bereavement course is open to all members of your family and close friends.

You don’t need to have used AB Walker’s services to attend our bereavement course. It is open to all. Simply complete our course application form.

Although there are many benefits to sharing your experience of loss, we understand that it may only suit some. If you or a family member would benefit from professional one-to-one support, we can help direct you to the appropriate support.

Applying to our Link bereavement course

Please complete this enrolment form to apply for a place on the course.

A member of the AB Walker bereavement team will contact you to make sure the course is right for you and offer you a place on the next available course.

Courses run throughout the year. We request that you commit to the full six weeks so that you will benefit from the full course.

After the course – Link Up social group

At the end of the six-week bereavement course, we will share information about how you can stay in touch with others and continue to gain the support you need while you adjust to your new normal.

This includes the Link Up social group, where many of those who have attended The Link Course maintain contact and meet locally for a coffee or a meal.

This live instant chat service allows you to talk directly to a specially trained bereavement counsellor online about your bereavement experiences and how they affect your life. It is a free service for anyone that has experienced loss and is available from Monday to Friday, 9 am to 9 pm (excluding bank holidays). Just click on the Griefchat box.
