Passed away on 24 May 2025, aged 36 years.
Hannah Mulholland-Waugh
March 1989 to May 2025
Hannah was a loving mother, sister, daughter and friend whose life was cut cruelly short by an aggressive form of brain cancer.
Hannah knew that her life would be considerably shortened as soon as the tumour was diagnosed. She was given a prognosis of 12-18 months if she underwent brain surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Although Hannah outlived this estimate by far, very quickly everything became about balancing precious time with her son, Jacob, with quality of life. In this aspect the hospice played a key role and that is why we have chosen to support them in memory of Hannah.
Thames Hospice were always available, and still are, for friendly advice, reassurance and care for the whole family. When Hannah’s mobility declined to the extent that she could no longer use our bathroom, Hannah particularly loved travelling to the hospice for a bath. Such simple provision made a significant difference to her life. Everyone at the hospice made her feel so special and they made sure to pamper her, always filling her bath with bubbles, taking care of her hair and offering treatments such as stress-reducing massages Hannah was so excited the first time she visited that I was called in to the bathroom because she wanted to show me how wonderful it was, to admire the twinkly ceiling lights, and for me to take her photograph (above).
Hannah always wanted to die at home and it’s safe to say that we were only able to fulfil this wish with the wide-ranging support that the hospice provided us.
If you are choosing to donate in honour of Hannah, you should know that this donation will enable the hospice to give others the same support that we enjoyed.
We cannot thank the hospice team enough.
