Anthony was always a very kind and patient mentor during my studies. He helped guide my research with insightful suggestions and was always happy to discuss different avenues of analysis. I remember fondly the times where we would have a team meal out together or have an evening at the student bar. Four years is a long time to study something and your supervisor makes or breaks the experience, Anthony helped shape a large portion of my life for the better! He will be dearly missed.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Prof. Powell. For many of us, Anthony was much more than a supervisor; he was a mentor whose guidance, encouragement, and generosity shaped our PhD journeys and early careers. He combined scientific excellence with genuine kindness, always willing to share his time, knowledge, and support. Those of us fortunate enough to work with him will remember not only his contributions to research, but also his warmth, humility, and the confidence he inspired in others. His influence extends far beyond the work he published, living on through the many students and colleagues whose lives and careers he helped shape. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. Anthony will be deeply missed and remembered with great fondness and gratitude.
