Wendy Huntley Darlison
Passed away on 16 February 2025, aged 87 years.
In 2013 Wendy was diagnosed with an extremely rare malignant melanoma on the retina of her eye. Barts Hospital successfully treated this with radiation therapy that was pioneering at the time. Although her eyesight was impacted she was gifted over ten cancer-free years.
Sadly, a secondary cancer was diagnosed in 2024 and Wendy lived with this for a year. She didn't wish to have further medical intervention and confronted her illness in an utterly uncomplaining way. She was still actively running her household until a week before she died.
Her wish was to stay at home until she passed away in the peaceful, early hours of Sunday 16th February. With the help of the local district nurse team and the palliative care nurses at Sue Ryder that is just what she did.
She was a remarkable woman who will be hugely missed.
