The Walker Family

  • Julian is the eldest son of Tony and Janice Walker. He joined the firm in 1995, shortly before his brother Matthew. Julian studied Biomedical Scienceat Sheffield, spending an enjoyable year with the Forensic Science Service in a student research post. He served with the British army as an infantry TA officer with a regiment now called The Rifles until 2003. He married Nicky, a lawyer, in 1998 and they now live near to Henley-on-Thames with their three strong willed children. Julian enjoys diverse interests from skiing, running, reading, golf and field sports as well as watching rugby and football now he has retired from contact sports! He is the managing director of the business and focuses on the standards and quality of the service. Julian represents the business at our trade associations and is a member of the Golden Charter Association group. He is currently engaged in some further leadership development training through Henley Business School.

  • Matthew & Melissa Walker

    Matthew joined the firm in 1997. Prior to this, he worked in the construction industry including running his own residential development company. He married Melissa in 1997 and together they produced the first of the 6th generation in the form of Oliver, soon joined by Charlotte. They live in Caversham near to the River Thames which has triggered a family enthusiasm for competitive canoeing. Matthew is the financial director of the firm and uses his construction and practical knowledge to develop the facilities and infrastructure from which we base our service. Matthew enjoys shooting, golf, running, rugby, and cycling.

    Married to Matthew, Melissa is seen as both brave and selfless by the team at AB Walker for not only working alongside her husband but sharing an office with him! Melissa heralded from Henley and worked as the customer services manager for a pet insurance company before joining AB Walker. She is our Finance Manager and founded and leads our prayer group and also heads The Link, A B Walker’s bereavement support programme. Melissa keeps their black Labrador Tilly well walked and enjoys shooting, and tennis. Being a mother she is well aware that often a firm hand is required when dealing with the two brothers…
