AB Walker Invites the Community to a Bicentenary Memorial Service at Reading Minster

In 2026, AB Walker Funeral Directors marks a significant milestone. For 200 years, the company has supported families across Berkshire and the surrounding communities with care, dignity and compassion. As part of these bicentenary celebrations, AB Walker is inviting families, friends and members of the wider community to attend a special Memorial Service at Reading Minster.

The service will be held  on Sunday 12th April at 3pm, at the Minster Church of St Mary the Virgin, Reading (RG1 2HX). The afternoon will offer a meaningful opportunity for reflection, remembrance and shared support, bringing people together to honour loved ones while recognising two centuries of service to local families.

A moment to remember together

The Memorial Service is open to everyone. Whether you wish to remember someone special, support a friend or simply spend a quiet moment in reflection, the event aims to provide a welcoming and supportive space for the community.

Throughout its history, AB Walker has stood alongside generations of families during some of life’s most difficult moments. This service reflects the company’s long-standing commitment not only to providing funeral services, but also to supporting the emotional wellbeing of the communities it serves.

A special service with music and guest speakers

The service will be conducted by The Ven Stephen Pullen, Archdeacon of Berkshire & The Reverend Sonya Wratten, and will feature a programme designed to bring comfort and reflection.

Guests will also enjoy a musical performance from the Arborfield Wives Choir & Julia Titus (Ma Bessie), alongside readings and contributions from representatives of the AB Walker family and the wider community. Together, these elements will create a thoughtful and uplifting atmosphere in which people can remember loved ones and share in a collective moment of remembrance.

An opportunity to connect

Following the service, guests are warmly invited to stay for refreshments, offering a chance to connect with others in an informal and supportive setting. These moments often provide comfort as people share memories, stories and reflections with those around them.
